# Assign a conversation

> Assign each conversation to a person and a team: everyone knows who is replying.

## Steps

1. Open **Messages** in the menu, then the conversation.
2. Click the assignment menu at the top of the thread, or press `A`. On a phone, open the contact record: the menu is in the **Assigned to** section.
3. Choose the person. The team is set in the menu next to it.

**Good to know** The **Take** button, to the left of the menu, assigns the conversation to you in one click. It shows when the window is at least 1,100 px wide, and on a phone in the contact record; in between, pick yourself in the menu. Press `E` to resolve it once you have replied.
