# WhatsApp account restricted or blocked by Meta

> If Meta restricts or blocks your WhatsApp account, only you can request a review, in Meta’s **Business Support Home** or in the WhatsApp app: WYP.chat, like any other tool, can neither block nor unblock an account.

## The signs

- Your messages stop going out, for all your customers at once rather than just one.
- Meta tells you: an email to the admins of your Meta business portfolio, a banner in WhatsApp Manager, a notification in Meta Business Suite.
- On the phone, the app says the number can no longer use WhatsApp.

## What Meta can decide

Meta sends a warning first. If the breaches continue (unsolicited messages, a template in the wrong category, a prohibited sector), the blocks get longer:

1. 1 to 3 days without templates (marketing, utility, authentication) and without adding numbers.
2. 5, 7 then 30 days without any messages.
3. An indefinite block, lifted only by a review.
4. As a last resort, the account is disabled. A serious breach (a scam, for example) means immediate disabling.

Too many customers blocking or reporting your messages can also get the account limited or disabled.

## Request a review

1. Open [Business Support Home](https://business.facebook.com/business-support-home) with an admin account of your Meta business portfolio.
2. Choose your WhatsApp account, then the reported breach: the page says which rule is involved and what you can do.
3. Request a review, explain your business, how your customers gave you their consent and what you have changed, then send it.
4. The answer arrives in Business Support Home, usually within 24 to 48 hours: the breach is reversed or upheld.

If the app on your phone (coexistence) shows the number is blocked, request the review from the app itself. A review covers one number only. If the option does not appear, the block is final.

## During the review

- Pause your campaigns and automatic messages (**Sales › Campaigns**, **Pause**) and your scenarios (**Automation › Scenarios**, **Pause**, then **Freeze them: they continue on resume**).
- Don’t send the request again: writing to Meta through another channel does not speed it up.
- Don’t disconnect and reconnect the number in **Settings › Channels**: it does not lift the block.

**Good to know** Some blocks for unsolicited messages cannot be appealed: you have to wait for the period to end. When you resume, write first to the customers who gave you their consent, and reread the [WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy](https://business.whatsapp.com/policy).
