# Send from your own email address

> To send your replies from your own address, for example hello@your-business.com, add a single line with your domain name provider, then click **Verify** in WYP.chat. Until it’s ready, your emails keep going out from the WYP.chat address: nothing stops, and your customers’ replies still come back to WYP.chat.

**Good to know** This setting only changes the sender of your replies. Receiving stays the same: your emails still arrive through the forward from your contact address to WYP.chat’s receiving address, and WYP.chat only reads those forwarded emails, never your mailbox. There is no direct connection to Gmail or Outlook. Before verification, your replies go out from a WYP.chat address, under your channel’s display name; afterwards, from your own address. Either way, the reply-to address stays WYP.chat’s receiving address: when a customer replies, their email comes back into the conversation. If a send from your address is refused, the email goes out straight away from the WYP.chat address.

## Steps

1. Open **Settings › Channels**, then the row of your email channel. Under the receiving address, find **Send from your own address** and click **Get started**.
2. Step 1: enter your **Sending address** (an address on your own domain name) and click **Continue**. Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo or iCloud addresses are not possible: their domain isn’t yours.
3. Step 2, **Prove that the emails really come from you**: WYP.chat shows a line of type **TXT** with a **Name** and a **Value**. Copy them with the **Copy** buttons.

4. In **Where is your domain name?**, choose your provider (OVHcloud, IONOS, Hostinger, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Squarespace): WYP.chat shows where to add the line. Paste the **Name** as it is (most providers add your domain on their own) and the whole **Value**, without quotes.
5. Step 3: click **Verify**. If the line isn’t visible yet, that’s normal for a few hours. WYP.chat also checks on its own, regularly, and emails the workspace owner as soon as it’s ready.

6. Once it’s ready, the channel shows “It’s ready: your emails come from…”. Customers see your address as the sender; their replies still arrive in the same conversation.

**Good to know** The line you add is called a DKIM record: a signature that proves to mail services that the email really comes from your domain. It doesn’t touch your current emails or your website. If your domain already has a strict anti-spoofing rule (DMARC), nothing to change: this signature is enough. If the line disappears later (new provider, edited DNS zone), WYP.chat notices, goes back to its own address so that nothing is lost, and alerts the team: put the line back, then click **Verify**. A domain name can only be used by one WYP.chat workspace. Only the owner and the administrators can set the sending address. Your IT provider can add the line for you: send them the Name and the Value.
