WhatsApp for garages, from reception to workshop

WYP.chat connects your garage’s WhatsApp number to a shared inbox: reception and the workshop see the same conversations, receive photos of the car, send quotes with reply buttons and tell customers when their car is ready. Free plan, then €29 a month excl. VAT, with no charge per user.

Your whole team, no seats to count. With 5 people, the Team plan costs €99 a month excl. VAT, the same as with one. You pay Meta directly for its messages, with no markup.

Great. Your car will be ready around 5 pm, we’ll message you here. 10:22

Who it is for: independent garages, body shops, tyre and fast-fit centres, service centres, motorcycle garages, franchised dealers.

From booking to collection, on WhatsApp

Four moments when your customers already message you, and what the team does with those messages in WYP.chat.

Booking and drop-off

A customer asks for a service slot. The “Meeting” button offers your available Google Calendar slots, and the booking goes into the calendar.

Thursday 8.30 am.

Photos and videos of the car

A warning light, a noise when braking, a dent in the door: the customer sends a photo, a video or a voice note. The workshop gets an idea before the booking.

Thanks. Sounds like the pads, allow an hour.

Quotes to approve

The quote goes out as a PDF, followed by a message with buttons. The customer’s answer stays in the conversation, with the date and time.

Car ready

A message template approved by Meta tells the customer, even if they have not written for days.

Hi Tom, your Golf is ready. We close at 6 pm.
Great, I will be there around 5.

Photo quotes and written approval

A worn part turns up mid-job? The customer approves with one tap, with no unanswered calls while the car waits on the lift.

WhatsApp allows these free-form messages within 24 hours of the customer’s last message. After that, a Meta-approved template has to reopen the conversation first.

  1. 1 The technician photographs the part From their phone, they send the photo to the customer in the conversation. An internal note, which the customer never sees, tells reception what to price.
  2. 2 Reception sends the quote as a PDF The file goes into the same conversation, next to the photos.
  3. 3 A message with buttons asks for approval Up to three answers, for example “I accept”, “I have a question”, “Call me”.
  4. 4 The workshop sees the answer The customer’s tap shows in the thread, dated. Copy it onto the job card in your garage software.

“Your car is ready” and payment by link

When the car leaves the workshop, the customer finds out on WhatsApp instead of from a voicemail.

A utility template
Create a “car ready” template (first name, vehicle, closing time) and submit it to Meta from WYP.chat. Once approved, anyone on the team can send it from the conversation.
What it costs
Meta charges for each utility template delivered, at the rate of the customer’s country. WYP.chat adds no margin. Rates by country are in our pricing guide.
Sent automatically
With a scenario, the “Ready” tag added by the workshop sends the template without anyone having to remember. You can build your own on every plan: included from Solo, 2 credits per automated message on the Free plan.
Payment by link
Paste your bank’s or card terminal’s payment link into a “Pay” button. WYP.chat takes no payments: the customer pays on your provider’s page, or at the counter.
A review after collection
The “Review after resolution” scenario in the gallery asks for a rating from 1 to 5, then sends your Google listing link to customers who give 4 or 5.

Your garage software sends, WYP.chat receives the replies

Plenty of garage management systems advertise “WhatsApp integration”. Often it is a wa.me link: the software opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message, someone sends it by hand, and the customer’s reply comes back to a single phone.

Keep your software
Job cards, invoices and parts stay where they are. WYP.chat does not replace it: it handles the messages.
The same number
If your software opens WhatsApp Business on the garage’s number, carry on: thanks to coexistence with the app, the message sent also appears in WYP.chat.
Replies land in the shared inbox
Reception and the workshop both see them, and each conversation has an owner. No more replies forgotten on the owner’s phone.
The customer’s history
Their record keeps conversations, photos, quotes and your notes: registration, mileage, next service.

Service and inspection reminders, with consent

A service or MOT reminder brings customers back, as long as they have agreed to hear from you. Meta requires that opt-in before you message them first.

Ask for consent
The “Marketing consent” scenario asks the question with two buttons and records the answer in the contact’s history.
Target
One tag per type of service, a segment, a campaign scheduled for the day you choose: 1,000 recipients a month on Solo. Contacts without consent are left out before sending.
Customers can opt out
They reply STOP, or turn off marketing messages in WhatsApp: they are unsubscribed across the whole workspace, and nobody can reverse that for them.
Meta’s cost
Marketing messages are charged by Meta per message delivered, by country. WYP.chat estimates the cost before each campaign.

App, wa.me link or WYP.chat?

The WhatsApp Business app runs on one main phone and up to 4 linked devices, with no way to assign conversations. WYP.chat opens the same number to the whole team, and the app can stay on the phone.

Questions from garages

How can a garage win more customers on WhatsApp?

By replying quickly where they write. With WYP.chat, an enquiry that arrives on WhatsApp is visible to the whole team and the first person free takes it. The “Review after resolution” scenario sends your Google listing link to happy customers, and for Click-to-WhatsApp ads, WYP.chat shows which ad brought in each conversation.

What are the drawbacks of WhatsApp Business for a garage?

The app runs on one main phone and up to 4 linked devices, every chat lands in the same list and nobody owns them. With the API, which WYP.chat uses, those limits go, but a message sent more than 24 hours after the customer’s last message must be a paid, Meta-approved template.

Can a customer approve a quote on WhatsApp?

Yes. Send the quote as a PDF, then a message with buttons such as “I accept” or “I have a question”. Their answer stays in the conversation, dated. For a big repair, keep the signed job card in your software as well.

How much does the “car ready” message cost?

Within 24 hours of the customer’s last message, a free-form reply costs nothing, up to 1,000 a month per number. After that you need a utility template, which Meta charges for at the rate of the customer’s country. WYP.chat is free up to 50 conversations a month, then €29 a month excl. VAT on Solo.

Can we keep our garage software?

Yes. WYP.chat does not handle job cards or invoices. It receives and shares out WhatsApp messages, including replies to messages your software sends from the garage’s number.

Can technicians reply from the workshop?

Yes, from their phones, each with their own login. They send photos and videos to the customer, and leave reception an internal note the customer never sees.
