Broadcast list or WhatsApp campaign?

The WhatsApp Business app sends a broadcast list to 256 contacts at most, and only to those who saved your number. A WYP.chat campaign goes through Meta’s API: it reaches a whole segment of opted-in contacts, with an approved template.

Need Broadcast list (WhatsApp Business app) Campaign with WYP.chat (API)
Number of recipients 256 contacts at most per list Your whole audience, spread within Meta’s limit (250 different numbers per rolling 24 hours for a newly created business portfolio)
Who gets the message Only contacts who saved your number Contacts who opted in, whether or not they saved your number
On a computer Not on Windows, Mac or Web In the browser, on computer and phone
Personalisation The same text for everyone First name, full name, company or city, with a fallback value
Targeting Lists built by hand Segments by tag, stage, channel, country or permission for offers
Consent and opt-out Up to you to track Consent checked before every send, STOP applied at once
Test and follow up No A/B tests and follow-ups to those who did not read
Message cost Free, with a monthly limit in some countries Meta’s price per delivered message, estimated before sending

If you keep the app on the same number (coexistence), Meta turns off broadcast lists there and makes existing lists read-only. Your bulk sends then go through WYP.chat.

Everything a clean campaign needs

A campaign is a WhatsApp number, a Meta-approved template, an audience and a send time. Everything else is set on the same screen.

Meta-approved templates

Write the template in WYP.chat or start from the library, then submit it to Meta. An image, a video or a document can be used as a header.

Segment-based audience

Filter contacts by tag, stage, channel, country or permission for offers, then save the filter. The segment updates itself.

Personalised messages

The contact’s first name, full name, company or city fill the template variables. A fallback value covers incomplete records.

Automatic exclusions

Before sending, WYP.chat leaves out contacts with no number, blocked, opted out by STOP or without consent, and tells you how many.

Estimated cost

Message cost is worked out from Meta’s rate card, country by country (16 countries), before you launch.

Test send

Get the message exactly as it will go out, sent to a single contact, without launching the campaign.

Scheduling and send window

Pick the start date and the days and hours when sending is allowed (Paris time). Outside the window, sending waits.

A/B test

Two templates go to 10 to 50% of the audience. After the delay you choose, the winner, by reads or replies, goes to everyone else.

Follow-up

A second template goes out 24 hours to 7 days later to those who did not read or reply. Consent is checked again.

Two-step approval

A supervisor prepares the campaign, an admin approves and launches it. You can pause or stop it while it sends.

Results

Sent, delivered, read, replies, STOPs received after sending, failures by reason and cost of delivered messages.

Automated sends

A template goes to a contact when they get a tag or reach a stage, right away or up to 7 days later, once only.

Consent and GDPR: opt-in before any send

Meta requires people’s consent before you message them on WhatsApp, with your business name made clear. For a marketing template, WYP.chat checks that consent on each contact’s record: having messaged you is not enough.

These tools help you prove consent. Collecting it and informing people remain your responsibility.

See the contact record in the WhatsApp CRM
Dated consent with its source
A team member records consent on the contact: in a conversation, in writing, via a form or verbally, with proof if available.
Imports with a declaration
A CSV file that brings consent requires its origin and a description of how it was collected, kept with the import.
STOP is respected
A contact who sends STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE is opted out. No team member or import can opt them back in: only they can, by sending START.
A history that cannot be rewritten
Every opt-in or opt-out is kept with its source, proof and author. Contacts can be exported as CSV.

How much does a WhatsApp campaign cost?

Two costs add up. Meta charges for each delivered marketing message, at the price of the recipient’s country. WYP.chat counts campaign recipients in your plan; beyond it, 1 credit per recipient.

Meta’s price for one marketing message (rate card of 1 October 2026)
Country Marketing message
United Kingdom €0.0526
France €0.0712
Spain €0.0585
Germany €0.1131
Italy €0.0658
United States €0.0207
Campaign recipients included each month
Plan Price per month excl. VAT Campaign recipients
Free €0 In credits (1 credit per recipient)
Solo €29 1,000 a month
Team €99 10,000 a month
Pro €199 50,000 a month

Example: 1,000 recipients in the United Kingdom, all delivered, cost 1,000 × €0.0526 = €52.60 excl. VAT, charged by Meta. The Solo plan includes 1,000 recipients a month: WYP.chat adds nothing.

Beyond your plan, 1 credit per recipient, counted at launch. A pack of 1,000 credits costs €15 excl. VAT and lasts 12 months.

What a WhatsApp campaign cannot do

These rules come from Meta and the law. WYP.chat applies them to protect your number and your customers.

Reply automatically to customers who message you
Message numbers without consent
No bought lists or scraped numbers: a marketing template only goes to contacts whose consent is recorded.
Send free text outside 24 hours
More than 24 hours after the customer’s last message, Meta only accepts approved templates. Free text is for replies.
Send everything at once
Meta caps the different numbers you contact outside that window over a rolling 24 hours, for the whole business portfolio: 250 for a newly created business portfolio, then 2,000, 10,000, 100,000 and unlimited. WYP.chat spreads the send and resumes the next day.
Send SMS campaigns Coming soon
They will come with the SMS channel. For now, campaigns go out on WhatsApp.

Send a WhatsApp campaign in 3 steps

Once Meta has approved the template, the campaign is set up on one screen, with the audience, the cost and a preview.

  1. 1 Import your contacts and their consent Upload a CSV file: columns matched, numbers put in international format, duplicates removed. Tick the declaration to import consent and add tags.
  2. 2 Prepare the campaign Choose the number, the approved template, the variables and the segment. Check exclusions and the estimated cost, then send yourself a test.
  3. 3 Launch or schedule Messages go out in batches, within Meta’s limit. Track reads and replies: each reply reopens the conversation in the shared inbox.

WhatsApp campaigns: frequently asked questions

Can I send a WhatsApp campaign without contacts’ consent?

No. Meta requires consent before you message people, and WYP.chat only sends a marketing template to contacts whose consent is recorded. Others are excluded before sending.

How much does a WhatsApp campaign cost?

Meta charges for each delivered marketing message: €0.0526 in the UK, €0.0712 in France (rate card of 1 October 2026). On the WYP.chat side, the Solo plan includes 1,000 recipients a month for €29 excl. VAT.

How is it different from a WhatsApp Business broadcast list?

An app broadcast list holds 256 contacts at most and only reaches people who saved your number. A WYP.chat campaign reaches a whole segment of opted-in contacts, with an approved template, variables and tracking.

How many messages can I send per day?

Meta limits how many different customers you can message outside the customer service window in a rolling 24 hours. The limit is set for the business portfolio and shared by all its numbers: 250 for a newly created business portfolio, then 2,000, 10,000, 100,000 and unlimited. To reach 2,000: verify your business, have it verified by the partner that onboarded it, or deliver 2,000 messages outside the service window to different numbers within 30 days using high-quality templates. Meta then reviews your quality and approves or declines. After that, the limit rises one level in about 6 hours if quality is good and at least half of it was used over the past 7 days. WYP.chat stays within it and resumes the next day.

Do messages need Meta’s approval?

Yes. Outside the 24-hour window, only Meta-approved templates can be sent. You write and submit them from WYP.chat, then Meta reviews them.

What happens when a customer replies to a campaign?

The reply lands in the shared inbox, in their conversation, and your team can answer freely for 24 hours. If they send STOP, they no longer get your campaigns.
